Caliban and the Witch
The history of witchcraft is foundational in the path of the craft. Caliban and the Witch by Sylvia Federici is well-researched and comprehensive. It is the only book I know of, that illuminates a clear link between the rise of capitalism and the eradication of the Divine Feminine. The wiping out of strongholds, of indigenous cultures advanced in the Divine Feminine Arts & Sciences, and the act of humiliating and degrading females for no other reason than being female, is directly linked. I haven’t read it, in its entirety, but I’ve read enough to know I want a hard copy for my collection.
Welcome to the Liminal Library where you’ll find books that traverse the veil. Some are fiction, containing great truths. Some are non-fiction, containing bits of the ineffable, and therefore, cannot be proven. Some are fun. Some are serious. They all appear on my shelf or in my wishlist.
Witchcraft History 101
This book is foundational in understanding how the term ‘witch’ (a crappy contronym) came to be, why it is important, and what it means to be ‘witch’ today. But it is also very timely. For future readers, today is October 8, 2025, and the place is the United States of America. Just when the Divine Feminine was starting to get some stability; just when we were having open, rational discussions regarding reparations for the indigenous people of this land, and the descendants of those brought to the America’s against their will; just when we were beginning to see that gender is not so important as we made it out to be, rather it’s quite fluid; just when women and marginalized populations were beginning to be treated with respect; just when we were starting the journey back to balance, the patriarchy came roaring back with a new leader, heavy with the same old, silly fear of ‘not enough’. Which is what capitalism is, it is the fear of ‘not enough’. It is the fear of ‘giving’, whereas, unchecked socialism is the fear of ‘having’.
The difference between today and the past is that now the patriarchy is wielding advanced technology—new weapons of mass destruction and surveillance. If we don’t come forward now to protect the Divine Feminine and claim her sovereignty, who knows how long it will take for her to resurface.
Pluto in Aquarius
Pluto in Aquarius gives us intel. He is telling us, the controlling parties will be hyper-focused on controlling humanity until 2044. Pluto doesn’t guarantee a successful revolution and he won’t do the work for us. His job is to give us the intel. Now is not the time to be distracted, now it not the time to follow, now is not the time to be complacent. Now is the time to act. Staying and fighting a losing battle may not be the answer. Look to your astro-cartography and relocation charts to know where to ride out the storm safely, while restoring something priceless in the process. Some of us will be called to stay, in order to do our great work. Some of us will be called to go, in order to protect our great work. Regardless of where you are, build small communities that are self-reliant, requiring no government and no billionaire class, trickle-down dynamics. Then, link those tiny communities into big collaborations. Set examples for the world to follow. The people of the USA have more experience with unchecked capitalism than anyone else, anywhere in the world. We set the example for creating it, and therefore, have a duty in fixing it.
The Kind of Freedom that Lasts
You might think it’s never been done before, but it has. On September 6, 1991, a tiny wisp of a country drove out a giant bear. No shots were fired and no rioting took place in the streets. But it did take steadfastness, trust in one another, and time. The people of the tiny country built up systems of exchange and caring for one another, completely independent from the bear. And when they were quite sure that they didn’t need the bear for shelter, warmth, or sustenance—all together, all at once, with the entire world watching—they stepped outside of their homes and sang a song of sovereignty, and then a few more. They risked their lives in doing so, for the bear really hated those songs. And the bear didn’t leave. That was on October 10, 1988. But the people were brave. Year after year, they kept singing their song—literally thousands of people, holding hands, singing their song. If they were going to die, they would die together, singing their songs with joy in their hearts, not hate. They never quit. They never gave away their right to joy. They never surrendered to suffering. They kept singing. And then they collaborated with another tiny nation the bear was terrorizing, and there were even more people singing more songs. Then another tiny nation joined in, for they were also terrorized by the bear. By September 6, 1991, they had gotten quite good at their songs. So once again, they stepped outside their homes and sang their songs, this time three nations strong, this time in perfect harmony. It could have been a Coca-Cola commercial. But it wasn’t, it was real. And the world watched as the big, bad bear retreated and his tanks rolled away. For a tiny moment in time and space, we had a perfect reflection of the Goddess’s dream, here on Earth.
It was by far the greatest revolution in our recorded history. And guess what, Pluto wasn’t in Aquarius. Pluto was stationed direct, at 17 degrees Scorpio—the fixed sign of sustainability, ruled by Mars—the planet of having the courage to trust. In Aries, Mars wants us to trust ourselves enough to be authentic. In Scorpio, he wants us to trust each other enough to share. Pluto in Aquarius is not the sign of revolution. Pluto in Aquarius signals that the powers that be are attempting to control the masses. This abuse of power, can and does, result in revolts. When the controlling few attack the many, their is always the risk that their target will rise up, causing the pendulum of control to swing.
It’s a slight distinction to make, but it is important. Pluto’s not our savior, but he is telling us to be prepared for an attack against our freedoms, liberty, and sovereignty, not just here, but all across the entire planet. According to the latest news reports, the bear has been circling the tiny nations again. Sizing them up. Provoking trauma and fear. Meanwhile, multiple genocides are being funded by the citizens of the eagle clan. The radicalization of Border Patrol agents and Immigration officers is also being funded by the citizens of the eagle clan. Obviously, without the clan’s consent. And the Commander in Chief of the eagle clan just announced to the entire world and to their military Generals, that the General’s new job is to wage war on the people of the eagle clan and we are not sure why, for they have committed no crimes. Pluto is telling us this threat will remain with us into 2044. Whether or not Pluto’s move into Pisces in 2044 results in deceit or enlightenment, depends on how we deal with this threat now.
Caliban the Witch shows us that history is repeating itself. Those who are ‘witch’ today, are the demographic that have the power to correct course. Not through might, not through hate, not through becoming as evil as the oppressor. Energy, frequency, and vibration is what matters. Sing a song of freedom. Don’t pray for it. Don’t plead for it. Don’t beg for it. Be brave and claim it. Do your own divine work, and cast a spell of freedom. Resurgemus!
